Salmon-Safe

Salmon-Safe offers a series of peer-reviewed certification programs linking land management practices with the protection of agricultural and urban watersheds. Whether the site is an organic farm in northern California, an orchard in the Skagit Valley, a Walla Walla vineyard, or a Seattle-area corporate campus, certification requires management practices that protects water quality and restore habitat. Salmon-Safe also is introducing innovative new programs focused on site design and development, as well as an accreditation program for pollution prevention in large-scale construction management. Salmon-Safe works with farmers to encourage the adoption of ecologically sustainable agricultural practices that protect water quality and native salmon. Operations endorsed by our independent professional certifiers are promoted with the Salmon-Safe label. Salmon-Safe’s accreditation program for construction companies engages contractors in consistently applying best construction site management practices with the goal of achieving zero sediment runoff across their entire operation. This is the nation’s first accreditation program to recognize construction professionals’ excellence in water quality protection practices and it will serve as a vehicle for enhanced accountability in environmental compliance for construction site management in West Coast urban watersheds.
