GAP Certified

The first step in the process is assuring that GAP standards are being met. With GAP’s technical knowledge, we have created comprehensive standards by animal group for each of our GAP Step® Ratings. Scroll down to review our standards. Then the GAP application to 3rd party auditor is completed. Once completed, your application for GAP certification is sent to one of three independent, 3rd party auditors. We use independent auditors because the GAP label stands for integrity and transparency. If your facility passes the auditor’s examination, a GAP 5-Step® Rating is assigned. Based on the results of the audit, the farm or ranch will earn a Step Rating of 1 through 5+. Note: ratings can be improved with each subsequent audit. And finally, our independent auditors continue to conduct visits to the farm or ranch every 15 months, throughout all seasons, to ensure compliance with GAP standards. Once a third-party audit has been conducted and a GAP Step® rating has been assigned, the appropriate GAP label is displayed on certified meat and other products. When you see the GAP label, you can feel confident that the animals have been raised following comprehensive standards focused on their care and welfare.
